Cloverfield Post

I have never seen this movie before, but from the brief clip that was shown in class I will be watching the full movie soon. I think this movie was filmed the way it was because that's how we saw the destruction from 9/11. Almost all of the coverage that was on the news was from eye witnesses from off the streets. There were very few newscaster camera's and high tech video recordings. The recordings we saw from 9/11 were from people who reached into their pockets and pulled their phones out. The quality is shaky and you get the feel of how the victims of the attack felt. The clip did not show the monster right away, just like the world didn't see the planes hit the towers until after we saw the wreckage and destruction that had occurred. One scene from Cloverfield showed pedestrians running from a large cloud of smoke. I remember seeing an image from 9/11 that showed people running away after the first tower collapsed which mirrored this image exactly. I am eager to see the whole movie and how 9/11 was represented throughout the film.
